| IDEAS
AND SUGGESTIONS: Below we will list some of the activities that will be taking place in the schools organizing the Anne Frank Exhibition in 2001. Feel free to contact them about any of these activities. The Netherlands The Berlage School will be hosting the exhibition from April 1 through May 1, 2001. Last year this school staretd a project on the history of slavery. This year the students will look at the history of slavery and also the history of the Holocaust. As part of this project the students will be working with a professional drama instructor to investigate the history of slavery, and also the history of the Holocaust, and then turn this into a drama piece. Also, the school is inviting a Holocaust survivor to speak to several classes. Also a student who attended the school during the period of the Second World War will be invited to talk about what this period was like for the school. The Berlage also has a website that contains information about the larger project: http://www.berlage.esprit-sg.nl. Unfortunately, the website is only in Dutch at the moment, but an email to the organizers can get you a quick reply. Czech Republic The Zakladni Skola in Znojmo (Czech Republic) is organising the exhibition in April/May 2001. The school is planning the following activities to support the exhibition: 1. A talk with the writer Arnost Lustig, who survived Auschwitz Concentration Camp 2. A performance of the play Brundibar, an opera for children, which was written in the Terezin Concentration Camp. 3. A performance of the play "Die Theater Feigele" 4. An evening with the poems by Hanus Hachenburger (a boy who died in Auschwitz in 1942) More activities will listed in the future our website under about the project/special projects). If you have activities you would like to add please contact Barry van Driel at: barry@annefrank.nl |
