In this
section you will find ten units that have been developed within the project
"Teaching to make a difference". These have been created by a team of
teacher educators from the Netherlands, England, Hungary, Italy and Portugal.
Each of the units will be pilot tested in the autumn of 1999 and spring
of 2000. In 2001 they will become the backbone of a European teacher training
seminar organized by the European Union.
The majority of the units have been designed in such a way that they can
be used directly in a classroom situation. Some, however, more appropriate
for teacher trainers. The following units can be found at this level: |

The
units have been developed in the first place to support teacher training
seminars that are organized to support the exhibition "Anne Frank: A
History for Today", and to provide further insight into the major themes
contained in the exhibition. This exhibition, created by the Anne Frank
House, has been shown in more than 30 countries worldwide.
However, teachers will find the units very useful when dealing with
issues such as the Holocaust, human rights, multiculturalism and civics.
The units have also been designed with the internet in mind, so teachers
will find that many of the activities contained in the units encourage
students to go on-line. The general approaches underlying the units
can be qualified as critical thinking, learning-by-doing, interactional,
multi-method and student-centered.
